Chicago to Miami Roadtrip
January 2007

It was time to traverse back to Miami for my final semester at college. I took a little longer of a route to see a little more of the countryside. And to get some counties in of course! Day one starts at my home in Chicago on January 9, 2007 and ends in Alabama. Have a look!

I have to start by saying there is no easy way of getting from my house to I-57. Nevertheless, I tried it anyway.

Starting out eastbound on I-88.

An I-88 shield.

Open road tolling on I-88.

Coming up to I-294 and I-290 in a couple miles.

We are going to continue southbound on I-294.

A very, very blurry I-294 shield.

An electronic overhead sign giving you travel times.

Coming up to the Stevenson now. Ogden Avenue is on your right.

Continuing on I-294 in a southerly route.

Here is the intersection to I-80 and US 6 on I-294.

I-80 westbound with a sign that says it also leads to I-57, my intended goal.

A very large sign for I-80 and I-294. We take the other road and head west on I-80.

I-80 shield.

We finally made it to I-57!

We are leaving I-80 for I-57.

I-57 shield.

A road scene to give you an idea of what I-57 looks like.

The exit for I-74 to Peoria is coming up.

An overhead sign showing where I-74 exits.

And now the real exit.

The exit ramp for I-74.

And for I-72.

A Denny's dressed up like an old diner.
