Hurricane Katrina Damage
August 24, 2005

In 2005 Florida was hit by a couple of hurricanes. One of them was Hurricane Katrina, which hit on August 24, 2005 and continued through the night until August 25th. The following show some of the damage that was caused by this storm down here in South Florida. Unfortunately, it started to get dark as I was walking around taking some of the pictures, so they aren't all too easy to see, but I think you'll be able to get an idea of the damage. Of course, those on the Gulf Coast in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana got hit worse than here in South Florida and are still trying to recover from the damage.

The biggest tree was just completely uprooted.

Another view of all the debris of trees left by the hurricane.

Think you were getting through here? Think again!

More big trees down.

More debris.

That also used to be a path.

Another view of the same pathway. This one has a fun spot though.

This tree was also on the larger side.

Debris, debris, debris.

A little bit better lighting. I started playing with the settings on the camera.

Thar she blows!

Many bare palm trees.

You used to be able to walk through here as well.

You can kind of see the trees in the water here, but it was getting very dark.

Look at those roots!
