The Everglades Revisited
April 2006

Real close shot of a bird!

More Everglades scenery

More or less the same shot as the previous picture.

This bird found a fish to eat. Yum!

This was a bit farther down into the Everglades, another place to stop and walk before it started raining on us.

Old highway!

Storm clouds approaching.

It stopped raining and we went further down to this area. There was a bench that had many people's initials carved into it from many different years.

More scenery in yet another area of the Everglades.

Pretty clouds.

Another view.

It seems I've got a lot of these.

Clouds and trees.

This is the ground, periphyton. It's basically a whole lot of algae that floats during the wet season and lies there during the dry season.

And now we enter! Yes, all the previous pictures were taken leading up to this.

On the inside.

Big tree.

We left that place and this was another stop off at the side of the road. There were birds everywhere. You can see some in the tree in the back.

More water and birds in a tree and flying around.

At another place, this is what we walked through...

And what we walked along...

To see this!

And this!

Not the cleanest looking water, I admit.

And we exit.

We've reached Flamingo--the southern-most part of Florida on the mainland.

Following the road.

A quick shot.

The end of Florida!

Pretty.
On the way out of the Everglades, we were hit by another storm and had to stop for a while until it passed.

More storm clouds.

Lots of storm clouds. I love storms.
