Great Sand Dunes National Park of Colorado
August 4, 2006

When you think of Colorado, you probably wouldn't believe that there were sand dunes there, but there are. They seem a bit out of place, but I happen to think that it was one of the greatest places I visited on this trip. Even when I took a fall and destroyed my poor camera. Thus, some of these pictures are also my brother's.

The sand dunes in Colorado are the tallest in North America. The sand has magnetic particles in it called (you probably won't believe me, but it's really true!) magnetite. The dunes were formed by the Rio Grande and some of its tributaries and get to about 750 feet tall. Enjoy the few pictures I managed to take!

You're here!

You can see some people climbing to the top in this picture.

This tells you where you are.

The shadows on the sand are pretty, I think.

The area in front of the dunes is the riverbed.

Just look at the clouds.
I managed to take this before my little swim in the sand.
