The Taste of Chicago
July 1, 2007

Every year the city of Chicago has The Taste of Chicago where vendors from all over the city come to share their food with you. The Taste usually lasts about two weeks, ending the weekend after the Fourth of July. The way it works is you buy tickets from the ticket booth and then those tickets are what you can get the food with. Cash is not accepted at the booths. It is possible to get a regular portion of food for about 6-8 tickets, or you can get a "taste of" portion of food for 3 tickets. This is definitely one of my favorite events to attend every summer.

Entering Millennium Park in Chicago.

Some of the garden looking out to the fountain.

The Bean!

Another angle of the Bean in Millennium Park.

The reflection of the city.

It is possible to walk underneath and get a different kind of reflection.

Welcome to The Taste!

And here is where people purchase tickets to get their food. This year it was 11 tickets for $7.00. $1.50 of that goes for amenities.

Notice all the people that fill the streets. This is actually still early in the day, so it wasn't as busy as it was later.

The city blocks off the streets to set up the stands for food.

Looking down the street and seeing some of the skyline of Chicago.

Just one of the stands that was at The Taste.

Another stand that shows the pricing for this particular place.

Some stands are more dressed up than others.

Can you tell which one is real?

No one was going to be driving down this road to get to Interstate 290 today.

There are stands not only for food at The Taste, but also other vendors such as Burt's Bees and Ford. The Sears Tower is in the upper right hand corner of this picture.

Buckingham Fountain.

And near Buckingham Fountain was the Budweiser Clydesdale cart.

And the Budweiser dalmation was taking a rest for a bit.

These horses are huge.
